Orthodontist Clifford Wachtel has built a business putting a smile on his patients’ faces. A Certified orthodontist Dr. Wachtel who is now located in Edwardsville.  Dr Wachtel graduated from New York University with a degree in Dentistry. He completed his post graduate work at Tufts University of Dental medicine in Boston. Upon graduating, Dr. Wachtel joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Okinawa Japan, for three years. He was chief orthodontist on the Air Force base. “That is essentially where I trained myself” said Dr. Wachtel referring to some of the specialty procedure he has developed.  “It gave me the opportunity to try everything that was new in the field of orthodontistry.” Dr. Wachtel came back from Japan and opened his practice in Pittston in 1981. He has a unique philosophy about his practice. He has devoted nearly 20 years to not only correcting his patients’ teeth, but also brightening their faces. “I remolded faces through orthodontics and orthopedics,” said Dr. Wachtel. “I can completely rebalance the persons face. I’ve been doing this since 1984.” At first Dr. Wachtel treated primarily children and teenagers. However, he has expanded his practice to treat adults. His patients range in age from 7 to 46 years old. Dozens of before and after pictures hang on the walls of Dr. Wachtel’s office. The pictures reveal patients whose corrective work has brighten both their smiles and their faces. However, the results go far beyond the candid photos. Dr. Wachtel explained that the corrective work and builds confidence in his patients. “Everything goes their way,” said Dr. Wachtel. Dr. Wachtel also tries to eliminate the discomfort of having orthodontic work done. “I learned it wasn’t necessary to pull teeth out,” he said.”When I treat my patients, they don’t look like they have braces on.” Part of Dr. Wachtel’s philosophy is to look beyond the dental work that a patient needs done and interprets the patient’s entire face.”I look at the nose, cheeks, jaw line etc…,” said Dr. Wachtel. By using certain orthopedic appliances, Dr. Wachtel works with patients to open up their eyes, eliminate sagging eyes, tightens skin and thins the face. All, he assured, without surgery. Many of the minor adjustments can be done with simple procedures like lifting the cheek bone or adjusting the jaw. “This is something that is mine,” he said.

2.     They are concerned about the appearance of their mouth. Large spaces between the teeth, crooked lower teeth, and protruding over-bite or bucked teeth are a few of the most common complaints.

CLIFFORD S. WACHTEL IS TRAINED TO DIAGNOSE AND CORRECT SUCH PROBLEMS.
